My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you a one-cat household? Has your kitten grown up a bit and is now a little crazy, running around madly and pouncing on you from behind furniture? Have you been thinking maybe sweet Fluffy needs a friend?

Luna may be your answer! She is young – about a year old – and as playful as they come. She has matured from a wary, unsure kitten into a lively, friendly young adult. She is the cat who will race you down the hallway, join you in the bathroom and talk to you, and hop up on the kitchen counter to observe and comment on EVERYTHING you’re doing!

Luna is curious and intelligent, always interested in what’s going on. She is very active, eagerly starting a game with her kitty friends then enjoying the chase. She will make you laugh at her silly jumps and leaps! She will probably be an expert mouser if given the chance – she is ninja fast and fearless.

As a kitten, Luna had several homes before landing in her foster home, where she’s been for several months. While still a kitten, she didn’t like being petted or held, and didn’t like her face being touched at all. It took some growing up before she learned that she was safe, and now she seeks affection all the time. She will push her face up to yours, talking to you and kissing you with her nose. She still doesn’t like being picked up, but she clearly loves people and wants to be around us. She loves to be stroked and gently scritched with your fingers.

Luna is probably not ready yet for a home with very small children. Older children should be fine, if they know – or can learn - how to be gentle with a young cat. She does still have moments when she reverts to being a little defensive, and a child who plays roughly with her will soon find out that Luna won’t tolerate it. But the more mature Luna gets, the more she can handle. Luna is gradually forgetting that she was ever worried about anything, and is becoming a wonderfully responsive cat who seeks out people for affection.

Luna has been living with three dogs and doesn’t seem to care – she doesn’t bug them and they don’t bug her *too* much. She has four cat friends in her foster home; her best friend is a young male about her age. They play all day, except when they sleep all day! She would probably be best with one other cat about her age, male (fixed) or female – someone young enough to play and run with her. Non-aggressive dogs would be fine too.

Luna is very healthy, spayed, current on all vaccinations and is fostered in Huntsville, Ala. If you’d like to meet Luna, please complete the application at http://forrescue.net/cat-application/ and her foster liaison will be in contact with you within hours.
