My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVA is an 18 month old spayed black female who weighs 67 pounds. She's a sweet, affectionate girl that gives great kisses. She lived with another dog and also a cat. She did like to chase the cat a lot so may be better with no cats or a very dog savvy cat that won't run from her. She is a little shy with new people and situations but once she realizes you are OK, she is all tail wags and kisses. She is good on leash, pulls a little and does better with an EZ Walk harness. Ava knows some basic commands. Ava know sit, lay down and "pillow" which means go to her dog bed. She loves to play fetch and did well at doggie day care. She loves to curl up and lay her head on your lap. She is crate trained and housebroken as long as you pay attention to her signals. She needs some training but is a quick learner. Ava needs a large fenced in yard or a very active family. She is approved for kids aged 8+.

Update (5/16): From her return transporter: What a sweetheart! She rode right over my shoulder most of the ride. Giving kisses anytime she got close enough to reach my face (or my ear a couple of times). :) I turned the radio on at one point and she stood in the back with a back and forth head tilt at the speakers. She wanted to know who was talking to her. She was waiting at the drive through with me and saw several people pass by with umbrellas. She gave a few ' what the heck is that' woofs, looking at them like 'oh my goodness, those people are being eaten by that thing over their head. I must save them!'. While driving out to Katie's she gave a curious 'woof, woofs' to the cows in the field, tail wagging the entire time. She found the squeaky toy tucked in the back door and had a great time tossing it around and making it squeak. When we got to Katie's she hopped out and sniffed around a bit. I told her to 'go pee' and she did. She walked right in and into the crate. She did not need the treats but I gave them to her anyway for being so good. Such a sweet girl!!

Update (5/15): Ava is a playful, fun girl. She is sweet and a good girl. Some great new pics added. See her on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5eGWlI2_3I&feature=youtu.be

Update (4/24): Ava is a really sweet, good girl. Now that she get regular play time and activity, she is very calm and obedient. She knows her commands and with exercise has great focus!

Update (4/21): Ava is still doing really well. She plays with all the dogs but likes the male friends the best. She really enjoys hanging out in the yard and playing but settles well indoors also. She is a typical very young labbie that just needs some guidance and structure but will make a loyal friend to someone that will take some time with her! She is a beautiful girl - very regal!

Update (4/17): Ava is doing really well at her foster. She has met most of the dogs and likes to play in the yard with them. She is doing well in the crate too. We are still working with her as she never had any training but she is a quick learner and eager to please. She especially loves playing with Junior :-)
