My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever/Lab
Age: Approx 1-2 years
Weight: 35-40 lbs
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Not Tested Yet
Good with kids: Not Tested Yet
Energy Level: Medium

This boy was not only severely neglected, but was abused and shot at. He had bebe's under his skin! He would sometime cower whenever anyone would pet him. Despite being scared, he is opening up to welcoming the human hand and realizing that not all people are bad like his previous owner. Truman has a slight tinge of a Golden-Orange, could possibly have a little Golden Retriever in him too. Regardless of whatever breed he is, he is 200% sweetness. He has already been acknowledging toys in the play area and looking around to make friends with the other dogs. He is already a different boy from the day he came into the shelter. The difference, he has hope.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
