Winnie is a sweet little girl. She was brought to the shelter in an Animal Control truck. She was found scrounging for food on the side of the road. When they drove up alongside her, she was wagging her tail happily. Little did she know where she was going. Winnie exudes positive energy. She greets everyone with her tail wagging. She will watch people from the front of her kennel and is very observant. We introduced her to toys and she was intrigued by them. Hearing the ball squeak was new to her. As she got the hang of it, she learned how to push the toy with her nose. She gets along with other dogs but hasn't officially been cat tested yet.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
