Do you love a good story? Are you the type of person who likes stories of redemption, of the last minute “stroke of fate” that saves the day? Tillie's (Matilda’s) life story is just that!

Tillie is a lovely, young, black and white tuxedo lass, who has the flecked-white markings of the Australian Sheep Dog, thus her nickname of “Waltzing Matilda” is so very appropriate.

Tillie's story starts back in 2012 when she was rescued from a very bleak hoarding situation. She, along with the 26 other cats, was under-socialized and feral. All of the cats were spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and relocated to barn homes.

Apparently, Tillie had second thoughts. In the spring of 2013, Tillie left her barn home to seek out new pastures. Unfortunately, spring and summer eventually gave way to winter and Tillie realized life without a home or barn was COLD!. In the winter of 2013, she showed up at a house begging to be let in, suffering from exposure and with frostbite damage to her ears. She was picked up by animal control and ended up at the pound and on death row. Luckily, she still had her microchip which, once they were able to scan her, told animal control to call Saved by A Whisker Rescue.
SBAW once again came to rescue her. Poor Tillie was still terrified of people, and no surprise after all she had been through. The plan was for Tillie to go to a new barn home once it was warmer out. Due to the terribly cold weather this winter, Matilda's release was delayed for months. Well...apparently after months in a foster home, Matilda has had a change of heart. She has decided that life indoors, with loving humans, a heated bed, and plenty of yummy food is the only way to live out the rest of her nine lives.

Tillie is a mellow, sweet, love bug, who enjoys hanging out with quiet people. She loves to play and is very adept at catching her flying feather and mouse toys. A very petite girl, her legs are rather short, as is her tail; she might be described as having a Munchkin-like body type. Matilda does have frostbite damage to her ears, but it does not interfere with her hearing. While it may take a bit for her to warm up to strangers, once you have earned her trust, she is the sweetest companion you could ever imagine.

Tillie is not a big talker, she just has a quiet, little peep of a voice, but her purr is as big as a lion. She will sleep on the end of the bed with her humans and is a content girl. She is a very good girl and uses her litterbox and scratching post reliably. Could you be the lucky family to adopt Tillie and share her new, happy beginning?

Adoption Fees: All of our cats are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated (as age appropriate), tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV, given flea/tick & heartworm preventative, & fecal tested (dewormed if needed) before being adopted out.
