My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please call Cynthia at 813-531-6616 /cwhitstone@verizon.net for more information, or to schedule a visit.

Please consider Rose! Rose is a 12 week old Springer Spaniel/Black Lab mix who has had a very rough start. She was dumped at animal control at 6 weeks old, spayed at 8 weeks, and then adopted by a family who gave her to a neighbor a week later. Crowded shelters are very dangerous places for young animals, and Rose became seriously ill from kennel cough, which turned into pneumonia. Her new family did not have the funds to take her to the vet, and reached out to rescue.

Rose is typical of many of the puppies who start life in this way. She does not cry or expect comfort from the people around her. She is grateful for any attention, and has learned to trust gradually. It is clear that in addition to the physical hurdles of being spayed so young, and almost loosing her life to complications from kennel cough, that Rose has not had adequate nutrition. She also suffers from some slight hair loss around her eyes (which is getting better everyday!), and “partial carpel subluxation”, as a result of not receiving the right combination of vitamins and minerals. This is a weakness in her front “ankles”, which makes her front feet appear larger than her back feet. Rose is on a magnesium supplement, fish oil, and 5 star puppy food, which should help her to completely overcome this issue, (although it does not cause any problems with her ability to walk and run).

Rose needs a home where she will be the center of attention, and can make up for the love and care she has not received in her young life. Rose gets along well with other dogs and cats, and will likely take the alpha role when she gets old enough. Families with children 10 and older are preferred. Because Rose is very calm and a good listener, she would make an excellent choice for an active retired person/couple. Rose will probably be between 35 to 45 BLS fully grown, about the size of a Springer Spaniel. Rose is spayed, up to date on shots and worming, is housetrained, and learns very quickly. Rose’s adoption fee is $225.00
