My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Bertha. I am approximately 5-6 years of age and am young at heart. I love to give new friends a warm welcome but I'm not an "overwhelming" jumpy youngster. The folks here at the shelter believe that I am most likely housebroken and will take care of my business in the bushes and grass.

I love to lounge and I am VERY affectionate. I love to petted, fawned over, talked to and I respond well to basic cues. I rarely bark and am an easygoing type of gal, which means if you dress me in a funny old lady hate and take photos of me I won't mind. I will just sit there and love you. If you open your car door I will make myself at home; as I said I love to lounge.

(I like BBQ's and lazy afternoons with a cool shady spot and a water bowl. If you’re in the shade I can lay beside your feet just fine).

My gorgeous brown to gray Brindle coat has darker streaks of color running through. My coat is velvety to touch. You can touch my ears, my tail and my muzzle. I have a gentle way of accepting treats (I love hot dogs) so I won't nip fingers or palms of you or your family members, guests included.

My eyes are a beautiful amber color that are clear so every time you call my name I will be able to find you and look into your eyes too. I also have a tickle spot which as you see from my video was discovered. I had pups prior to being dropped off at the Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter but since I have been here I have been spayed.
