Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Dora! This is her story as told by her rescuers. No longer able to care for Dora they have asked us for help - Dora becomes ours this afternoon. Please share her and her story and help us find her a safe and loving home.
"As my husband and I were watching a late night movie, I heard the sounds of, what I thought were, my infant son crying. After discovering he was sleeping peacefully, we realized the cries were coming from outside our house. Crying and cold, we found a pair of scared eyes staring back at us in the dark, huddled under our dryer vent, in a flower bed covered in snow. This was not our first “rodeo.” We live on a road with a hunting camp; unwanted dogs and strays are dropped off frequently, but never before in the snow. We have no idea how she got there or where she came from, but obviously she was a throw away, tossed out in the cold and snow to die or fend for herself. We fed the sweet, scared pup and gave her water. She would not let us touch or pet her, but she was eager to eat. The next day, in the daylight, we discovered that our new friend really was special; She was missing one of her back legs. This did not stop her from running and playing with our two chocolate labs or nipping playfully at the tail of our elderly beagle. The vet determined that she was a young gal, just around 4 months old. She appeared to be a “bird dog” blue heeler breed. The vet determined, after examination, that Dora was not born missing her back leg, nor was it removed surgically. We are not sure what the story is on that, but we are left to think that it was traumatic for such a young gal. She is still very timid...when we are able to corral her, she loves to be petted and cuddles in your lap."
