Parker is a wonderful example of how dogs live in the present. His tale of abandonment is all too common but don’t expect to find this fellow feeling sorry for himself. Tied to a tree in a park with all his worldly belongings is how a Good Samaritan found him. Despite this rough patch, he harbors no resentment and absolutely loves people. He is ready to let go of his past and looks forward to a bright future. During the course of Parker’s routine Vet visit, Animatch discovered that Parker has hip dysplasia. He is not showing symptoms and does not require surgery. Parker will be getting weekly cartrophen injections for the next month or so. Subsequently, these injections should be given every few months. Although Parker will never be an Agility Champion, he does need a good exercise program; daily walking and possibly moderate running can help strengthen the muscles around the joint. Weight will also play a role in Parker’s comfort (as it does with most dogs). Extra weight can add stress to the hips so good food in the correct quantities is important. Parker loves other dogs; in fact, this fellow adores all creatures, two legged and four. He is quite vocal, therefore apartment/condo living would not suit him.
