Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Panda, 3 Years Old (pug/peke/chi mix)
Panda is a 3 year old mixed breed. He is said to be a cross of pug, pekingese, and chihuahua (but to be honest he has a long body that looks kind of similar to a dachshund with the littleshort legs!). Panda has the cutest "long body" and short legs but some pug type features as well. The pictures don't show it very well, but he is a pretty reddish color. He weighs about 12.5 pounds. He was rescued from a shelter in Chicago, so we do not have any information on his previous life. He is a super sweet and playful boy. LOVES to play with toys - if there is a squeaker in it then it is even better. He loves to snuggle up close. He is such an easy going little man, he is just looking for the perfect loving family. He whines/cries a bit in a kennel but does settle down after a while. He is housetrained, but does have a tendency to mark in new circumstances (so a belly band for a little bit may be necessary until he knows he is okay).
Panda has a bit of a "stand offish" personality to new people. It takes Panda a bit to warm up to some people (especially men). He does well once he knows them, but he needs a little extra TLC and understanding. He needs a home that can will be patient and give him time to adjust.
Panda will be fine in a home with other dogs as long as it is a good match for him, but would also thrive as the only animal in a home. He does not do well with smaller type animals (such as birds or guinea pigs), some cats he does okay with (he does best with a cat that is low energy).
