Here's what the humans have to say about me:
On December 28th Our Buddy went to the Rainbow Bridge. As the cold weather set in, his arthritis and hind end weakness became worse despite medication and exercise. He began falling more frequently and could not get up. We rescued Buddy with the intention of getting his congestive heart failure stabilized so that he could have a few more months of good quality life before going to the Rainbow Bridge. Buddy loved going for walks and ambling after toys and balls gently thrown. He loved attention and just being able to follow people around. His favorite thing was to go into the kennel office to snoop around and pick toys out of the toy box to play with. He was a very dear old fellow who won a special place in our hearts. Run free at the Bridge, dear Buddy. Much love to you.
This was Buddy's story:
Our Buddy is a very sweet old fellow who ended up in Los Angeles City's North Central Shelter as a "stray". The shelter allowed Save the Dalmatians to take him out of the shelter early on the Good Samaritan Program because of his health issues. Save the Dals immediately brought Buddy to a vet and a cardiologist specialist. He was placed on cardio meds and in the first week dropped 10 pounds of fluids. He is now doing much much better with his daily medication and prescription diet. Buddy has a wonderful personality and is very sweet and affectionate. He so appreciates any attention or care he is given. Buddy loves going for little walks and just hanging out. He prefers a home without other dogs, particularly as his health is so fragile. Also, because his heart is weak, he needs to live at or near sea level and have frequent check ups with a veterinary cardiologist.
If you would like to be a foster home for Our Buddy for his remaining time, which could be as long as a year, Save the Dalmatians will cover the cost of his medications, veterinary care and special diet. It would be wonderful for him to live out his days in a loving foster home! Please email rescue@savethedals.org if you are interested.
Buddy needs several sponsors to support him because he is taking five different heart medications as well as a prescription diet. If you would like to sponsor Buddy, please visit our website at savethedals.org and use our paypal button. Be sure to specify that your donation is for Our Buddy. Any amount is welcome!
