Talk about a Cinderella story! Maya had been picked up stray by animal control, not only was she pregnant but also starving to death and sick to boot! Had she not been taken into the Humane Societies program her future was very grim.
This awesome little dog gave birth to her pups and was a fantastic, nurturing mother. She doted on her babies and never once showed anything but love to the humans caring for her! Through it all she was fighting a horrible upper respiratory infection yet she kept plugging along! Amazing little dog she is!
Now the kids are weaned and adopted, Maya is healthy, fattened up, spayed, and sassy. It is time for a home of her very own. She is some sort of terrier mix, long and short, wiry hair that does not shed too much, and the cutest little square muzzle that is just perfect for kissing! Maya has been exposed to other dogs and cats while in our care and can hold her own. She gets along great with everyone but she can be a bit feisty with other dogs, she will give chase and may not be suited for a home with any large breed dogs who have dominance issues. A fenced yard is required when adopting Maya.
Please remember we are an all volunteer, non profit organization. We all have full time jobs outside of the Humane Society. If you apply for Maya please expect a one to two week turn around time on your application processing. We do check all references, partial applications or incomplete references could delay or reject your application. Thank you for considering a rescue companion and giving a homeless dog a second lease on life! Without your support we could not survive!
