Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Brook or Brooks is a Mini American Eskimo Dog with wavy fur! He is adorable and just as sweet. As with a lot of Eskies, Brook needs to warm up to new people at his own speed, which for him, is usually fairly quickly! Brook does not appreciate new people coming up to him fast and sticking their hands in his face. Because of this, we recommend only adults or with teens / older kids in the home, no younger children. Brook is smart and a fast learner. He is very inquisitive and loves to checkout new situations.......hence he got too close to a big kitty. Poor Brook had a very unfortunate accident/incident with a cat and his eye took the brunt of the scuffle. With cat bites and claw scratches, a bad scratch or bite can get infected VERY quickly, as happened with Brook. Brook's eye got poked badly, most likely with the cat's claw. It was a puncture injury, that caused the eye to "rupture" with infection already setting in by the time we got him to the specialist, vet who is trained in eye surgery. There was no way to repair the damage to his eye; the only plausible treatment is to remove the infected eye. The doc removed the eye and as much infection as possible; he was placed on an antibiotic, an anti-inflammatory, and pain relief. Brook had no further infection issues, and has been healing very successfully. The surgery was on 4-12-14, the stitches removed on 4-25-14. Brook is now in a new foster home with two other Eskies and is getting along just fine! Brook enjoys the fenced yard for running and playing chase, and has even learned to use a doggie door! Brook has good energy and is VERY curious! Brook rides in the car well, he knows SIT, DOWN, and loves to go on leash for walks, although can use some training on healing! He is treat motivated and crate trained.....although he would rather not be in a crate! ;-) Brook loves to sit in a friendly lap and get cuddles and rubs! He is a loving, spirited dog!
Please NO cat owners need apply.
