Here's what the humans have to say about me:
See Nikki's video here: https://vimeo.com/91036960
Nikki is an approximately 2 year old Australian shepherd or possibly an Australian shepherd / border collie cross.
This lovely dog was recently adopted from a local shelter and when the people found out she wasn't housetrained, no longer wanted her. (Yes, we tried to lend them and educate them on use of a crate.)
We're working on her house- and crate-training now along with other skills and commands, and she is proving to be a bright and eager learner. Nikki doesn't appear to have had much obedience training and doesn't know how to heel, although she walks acceptably on leash. She was described by her former owners as being ok with cats if they don't run. Her new foster mom says she seems interested in cats that are dog savvy and don't run, but hasn't shown any desire to hurt them.
Nikki loves people and is said to be good with children 12 years and older. She is also great with other dogs of both sexes. She loves to play dog games like chase, wrestle and jaws. She doesn't seem interested in toys or balls yet, but she does like to "herd" other dogs when they chase a ball.
This dog really wants to be an indoor dog and with her people, so we are seeking a family for her where someone is home most of the day. Nikki is good on her own if secured in a crate or small room with a gate in the doorway--she will just whine softly for a little while and then she settles down. We were told that she can get into mischief if left in the house loose, although since her former adopters only had her for a few days that was a lot to expect of her. She doesn't seem particularly food-motivated, but we're still getting to know her. She is a very sweet girl, a very nice size (36 pounds) and she has a very soft coat that you just want to run your hands through. Fortunately she doesn't seem to mind getting cuddled!
Nikki's adoption fee is $150 and includes spay, vaccinations, microchip, collar and ID tag.
