Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I am a 4 year old neutered male Dachshund mix. I weigh about 13 pounds. I am very sweet, mellow, loving, and well-behaved. I can be a little quiet and reserved when first meeting people, but I warm up quickly. Before you know it, I'll be in your lap requesting hugs and pets. I get along great with other dogs and I really love all my human companions. I was found wandering the streets of Los Angeles and brought into a local high-kill shelter. When I got there the staff realized that I was limping and I wasn't using my right rear leg. They decided to put me on some pain medication and wait and see if I got better. Apparently I was still lame in that leg a week later so they took some X-rays. After reviewing the X-rays it was thought that I had a fractured hip and pelvis. They continued pain medication and left me in the medical ward at the shelter. There I sat for 20 days just waiting for someone to come adopt me. Finally, I was told that I would be leaving to go to a place called CageFree. I was so happy that I wasn't going to be spending another night in that scary place! Before I got there though, I had to make a quick stop at one of their private vets to have them look at my X-rays. My doctor said that I didn't have a pelvic or a hip fracture, but that I may have had a fractured toe at some point. But the reason for the limping was because I have a slight issue with a luxating patella. What that means is that my knee slips inside the joint just a little more than it's supposed to. I've been told that this is pretty common in small breed dogs. When it slips is causes me to hop a little bit until it pops back into place. My doctor said I have a very mild case and that I am going to be just fine. No surgery needed! Now that the mystery has been solved, I'm looking forward to a bright future. I can't wait to find my new forever home. If you think you would like to adopt me, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and let them know that you want to schedule a time to come out and meet me.
