My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Katana which is the Japanese term for Samurai Sword. However, I won't bite you or bark at you but I will cut to the chase and invade your heart. I love to please. While I can loose leash walk with the dog walkers at the animal shelter you will never find me not obeying their command. I have good manners and I am eager to please and I am always paying attention to my humans. I am very attentive.

I know my name, I can sit, stay and come on command and I love peanut butter treats. While I walk I look to my dog walker for additional commands that I know will render me lots of petting and hugs.

I am a short-haired and short-legged dog who is very easy to be around, very easy to walk and very easy to snuggle with. Just watch my video. I have expressions that are very visible especially when my dog walkers are talking to me. (If only I could speak human)

I have no medical issues to worry about and my ears and eyes are clean and bright. I am housebroken. When I walk I have pep in my step but I wont' walk ahead of you but rather at your side. I love my dog walkers, and I know I will love you too. They protect me by keeping me on leash and they know as soon as they stop I look to them and promptly sit. Let the rain of hugs come pouring down.

I can be around men, woman and children. I feel comfortable around 6-8+ year old children. That's as a good age so your family and I can grow together or if your expecting or if your grandchildren are coming over for the day.

You can touch my ears, my paws, my tail and I love my hind quarters scratched. If you have a motorcycle with a sidecar, put some goggles on me, a scarf and don't forget my leash let's go.. wheee...

I live at the Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter who found me as a stray in an abandoned building and while I am in my kennel or being walked I can hear lots of kids nearby. I want to play with them. So please, come see me at the shelter and let's go for a walk with one of my human walkers. Please bring some peanut butter snacks I love, love, love those. If not, how about we settle for a hind quarter scratch?

Thank you for reading my Biography. I hope we get to see each other and you can see how loving and ready for a family I am and you can show me and the folks at the animal shelter how ready and loving you are for me. Are you ready for me? My name is Katana.

I will be here waiting at the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter, Mount Vernon, NY.
