My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUDDY is an 8 year old yellow neutered male who weighs 80 pounds. He enjoys getting attention and has such a gorgeous head and big paws to pet. Buddy is a handsome, lovable boy. He's quite playful and rambunctious for his age. He loves having something in his mouth but has trouble getting through his doggy door with a big toy in his mouth! A quieter house with a patient human would be the best home for this sweet boy. Buddy enjoys car rides and going for walks, but he does best with an EasyWalk harness. He is 100% house-trained and has full house privileges. He'll make someone very happy if they are a patient and understanding of his needs to check things out on his terms. He's a really sweet boy! Approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (5/16): Buddy has been an absolute pleasure - a friendly companion - a classic "Dog". When we got Buddy, we were told that he was going to be somewhat timid (and rely on his stuffies for courage) but that is not the case at all. He is the perfect mix of old and young - old enough to relax when everyone is watching TV, but strong and active when playing outside and while walking. He is extremely loyal - just look to your left and he's there. He gets very excited when he sees other dogs but is gentle once they are close - even to the smallest little terrier. He's a big yellow fellow. He is very good at listening to correction and following directions.

While his fosters are at work, he spends the day at home outside of the crate and has been excellent. He would lay on the couch all day if he could but we've put up boundaries, which he respects. When we get home he does his business like clockwork and within a short walk. When he meets his future forever family at home with his beautiful orange eyes and giant white snout wrapped around a stuffy, he's going to be hard to turn down. Buddy would fit in fabulously with anyone who's looking for a Family dog or Companion, and has either a small yard or experience walking big dogs on a leash.

Update (4/30): Buddy is a wonderful companion. He loves to follow his foster around the house and help with the cooking and cleaning (watching while holding a stuffed toy). He is completely trusted in the house without a crate. He pulls while walking on a leash, but being patient and using treats helps. He has a gentle mouth when taking treats.

Update (4/16): His first night took several entrances and departures into the bedroom before he finally settled on the dog bed. Now that he knows the bed is there it is his safe place. Buddy will tentatively walk into a room and leave, return with a toy in his mouth and go a few steps further, leave, and come in even a few steps more....repeat process in every room. He really wants to explore, but it needs to be on his time and comfort schedule.
