found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Rocket is a 9-year old, purebred Golden Retriever. We believe him to be of the English Cream variety, and when this big boy has been groomed and loses some extra pounds, he is going to be a knock-out!
Currently living with his owner in CT, he is losing his home because his owner is moving. Rocket has grown up with the family's children, currently ages 13 and 15. He lives peacefully with a cat, and he is passive with the dogs he has met. Rocket's owner describes him as "mellow, gentle, kind," which is exactly what Sunshine's volunteer found when he met Rocket. To meet handsome Rocket is to love him. He is sweet as sugar, and so affectionate! He went to our volunteer and did not want to leave his side! Rocket rides nicely in the car, walks well on a leash, and is house trained and crate trained. He knows "sit, down, and wait" commands.
Rocket has not been getting regular walks, going into his fenced yard primarily for potty breaks. He is overweight and slow moving, and in need of a good grooming. He may also need supplements or medicine to help him with his hips. Regular exercise and a high-quality diet should help him improve. He seems starved for affection, so a family that has someone home much of the time will make him so happy -- and he will bring his new family much happiness in return!

A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided.
The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home.
Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed.
