My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Alabama Bella (or Bama Bella for short) because I hail from Alabama. I lived my entire 10 years with a family who loved me, but did not really have enough time to spend with me. I was an only dog and I spent many hours alone confined to the bathroom while both my owners worked full time. That’s where I slept at night too. In the past year, with increasing financial hardships, my family found that they were not able to afford proper veterinary care for me, so they surrendered me to a better situation.
When I first came to my foster home I was not happy. My previous life may not have been the very best but it was the only life I knew and I missed it. I don’t do change well and I was afraid. There were other dogs in my new home and I decided to let them know right away that I was the boss. I didn’t even particularly care for my foster mom and dad. That didn’t stop them from loving me though, and once I found out that they loved me, guess what happened? Now I follow them around the house, I snuggle with them, I give kisses, I greet them when they come home. I have so much love to give back.
I have a lot of energy for a 10 year old. I run up and down the stairs three steps at a time. I love going for walks. I am basically potty trained, but since I spent a lot of time living in a bathroom with pee pads, I find that it does help if there is a pee pad for me to sometimes use. I mind very well. I come when I am called. I am crate-trained. I have a big appetite but I will sit patiently while you fix my meal. I weigh approximately 14lbs.
Because I don’t do change well, I sometimes react by nipping when I am scared. I would do best in a house without children. Because I can be bossy around other dogs, my foster parents say I would make a perfect only dog. I just need someone who has time to spend with me, like a stay-at-home mom or dad. If you are willing to give me time to adapt to a new life, I promise I have all the love in the world to give back to you.
