My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Schatzy is a 7-8 year old, tight coated wirehair Dachshund. He was adopted from Sahuaro Dachshund Rescue several years ago, but now his owner is going into a home and he cannot go with her. So, he returned to where he would be safe and would be able to find another wonderful and loving home. This boy is so very sweet. Rarely barks and he is crate trained. He uses a doggy door but doesn't know how to ask to go out, so if you do not have a doggy door, you would have to train him to ask. He is very loving and affectionate. A social little guy that loves to go places or just hang out at home with you. He gets along great with other dogs, I don't know if he has ever met a cat? He is too small to go into a home with small children, so any children in the family must be over the age of 12. The risk to Schatzy getting injured by a small child is just too great. He only weighs about 9 pounds. Grooming for him will just consist of a bath, trimming his nails, cleaning ears and teeth. No more grooming required than any smooth Dachshund.
