My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY LISTING

This is Mr. Stripee, a fully vetted and neutered feline fellow looking for his peeps.

Stripee showed up in March, peered in my window silently meowing. At first I was startled caught off guard and thinking it was a wild bobcat peering in. He was very thin, wet and cold and was looking for help. He found he perfect sucker.

Over the past month, he's become a trusting and loving little fellow. But he's living outside under my carport and so wants to be part of the household. I can't bring him in because I am at the tipping point at my house and MY CATS are the problem as my male cats are MARKING the entire inside of my house, my furniture, the walls, my plants, my PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's starting to get difficult and I know it's a territory thing and related to stress, all because of Stripee pining to just belong and to come inside.

I have to find him a better situation ASAP. I've gotten him neutered and all his shots and tested. He's healthy and has a wonderful disposition. He is very sweet to woman and a tad leery of men; (suspect he's been shooed off one too many times but we are working on that). . He's so cute, he rolls around at your feet like a ball looking for attention and happily accepts a back rub and scratch under the chin. He will come and curl up next to you if you sit down at his level, and seems to crave attention and wants so badly to love someone back. He's never once clawed me or tried to bit me...he's actually MUCH sweeter than my own cats!!!!!!! He's a drooler when he gets in that Zen state after a good rub down and a little muffin making.

Stripee is not the kind of cat that wants to be picked up, but he craves companionship badly. He's actually befriended my lab Sam (see pictures) and they spend a lot of time together outside when the weather is good laying side by side. I am sure he would be fine with other cats because he seems to long for interaction with mine through the windows. He will follow you if you go for a walk around the yard, help with yard chores, or even go to work keeping down the little furry varmints or creepy bugs that cross his path. He would thrive in a low-key home, where he can "hang out" doing his thing as long as he's got a place where he belongs. I hate that he's outside dealing with the wildlife that comes around at night.

Coming from rural north Georgia, we have zero adoption options. There are no rescues that have room for him, and I know he would not flourish in a cage waiting and waiting for someone to come along and adopt him only to have no one ever come. Too often, in communities like mine animals find themselves tossed into the wilderness when someone gets tired of the novelty of a kitten. There are threats that someone is poisoning cats in town now, so he needs a ticket out. He deserves better that I can do for him now being outside 24 x 7. With all the coyotes howling at night, I am worried for him but have no other options. Living in a barn storage area with no interaction or windows won't work for him thus the reason he's back outside. I can't leave him in because of the existing conflict with my current rescue cats (who all are also herpes cats).

This cat is super duper smart. He was neutered two weeks ago and I kept him in my barn two days post surgery. He was the purrrrfect little gentleman, used the litter box like a champ and was so happy to have a heating pad for a bed and a buffet served three times a day. I know he would acclimate to indoor living well.

I envision the perfect home as someone that:
has another friendly animal (dog or cat)
wants a companion for themselves around the house as they go about their daily chores (he's very helpful with gardening)
family or single person willing to allow him to come inside and be part of the family
quiet safe home in a more rural that city setting (he knows nothing of cars)
nice farm where he would become part of the family and fed and cared for vs left to fend for himself
retired person that wants a good mouser or someone to keep them company
home with older responsible children. He's leery of the fast movement so toddlers won't work
Please forward this plea to your contacts. You never know who might be looking for just this kind of puddy. I am willing to consider relocation to the right family. Application for adoption is required in order to ensure it's the right match for both parties!

Thanks!

Liz
