My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there. My name is Ford. I am about 5 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs.
I was found as a stray in Salem. They didn't know where I belonged as they hadn't ever seen me before. I just kind of acted as if I had lived there my whole life though. I camped out on their porch and stayed there until that evening. They put me in the garage for the night and then brought me in here to the pound the next morning. They said I was such a good boy and they really wanted to just keep me but they had some small dogs and were concerned we wouldn't do well together.
I am a very sweet and personable dog. I love affection and I am great with people. I like to play ball and just be with people in general. I am a smart boy. I know how to sit, lay and shake hands.
I am kind of okay with some dogs, then other I just seem to completely not like. I am kind of a dominant fellow and I really just need time to get to know and accept my new dog friends. I was a little "funny" at first with some of the other dogs who were running around in the office. The girl here took me in her office and put a baby gate up to keep me somewhat separate from the other dogs but still where I could interact wit them and after about 20 minutes, I seemed to be okay with them.
**UPDATE** I was adopted for a short time. I had a cat friend and I liked him. After having me for only a week or two, she surrendered me to another pound rather that bringing me back, so the pound had to have a transport set up to get me back up to them. My owner had stated that I would guard my food and toys from her. The pound has not seen any aggression with my toys so far. I actually like to play ball and I will usually give it to you to throw for me. The pound does not food test dogs here, so it is possible that I may guard my food. This is easily handled by feeding me separate and leaving me along when I am eating.

I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER APRIL 12, 2014.
HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS.

MY ADOPTION FEE IS $110 CASH, WHICH COVERS MY NEUTER SURGERY (WHICH MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO ME LEAVING THE SHELTER), MY PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINE, RABIES VACCINE, DEWORMING AND MY CURRENT OHIO DOG LICENSE WHICH WILL BE HONORED THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OHIO.
