Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Jax. I am a 5 year old, neutered, red cocker boy. I was picked up by NC animal control after they found me hurt and alone. It was early AM the Friday of Easter weekend. The staff thought that I had been hit by a car, as I my leg was badly hurt and I seemed to be in a great deal of pain. The staff had to hold me for 5 days to see if my owner showed, but no one ever came for me. They felt bad because they couldn't give me any pain medicine and asked for rescue help. CCR agreed to take me, had to work on getting transport for me, and then the shelter called back and said that my owner had found me online and they were coming to get me. They did show up in a day or two, but sadly they signed me over to the shelter......so I guess they just didn't want me anymore! I had to wait for them, suffered a lot of pain and then I was finally given something by the shelter vet, checked out and luckily I didn't have any broken bones.
My owner told the staff that I wasn't hit by a car, but that I had injured myself trying to escape their yard, got stuck and then injured my leg to get free. Thanks to the shelter staff, they contacted rescue again and now my injury has been taken care of properly and I recovered well.
I am a sweet boy and I did well on my ride to rescue, but I was a bit leery of certain movements and positions of my leg, which caused me a great deal of pain at the time. The rescue vet said that I just needed time to heal and I recovered with flying colors. I am heartworm negative and I will do best in a home with kids ages 10 and older.
If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy cocker, please send an email to: larrydonnacarp@aol.com for an adoption application. Our adoption fee is $300, which
includes all of the vetting for this dog since he has been in our care.
