Harley's Story...
I am a man’s dog. A human’s dog. If you want a hunting buddy to walk with you in God’s country, then I am your boy. I don’t put up with guff from strangers, I tell it how it is and shoot from the hip. If you want cutesy and giddy, keep on looking. If you want loyalty and respect, I am your boy. But I ask for the same in return. I don’t like cats. Fair enough? Kids 12+ are more up my alley ‘cause I don’t get involved in kiddie games. I am not going to sugarcoat anything for you—I speak the truth—and for some that is hard to swallow. I do like the crate training I am learning here and having the freedom in my play group is very rewarding. But for my new home I would prefer a dog my size ‘cause I can’t stand little yipper-yappers. I am committed and loving to those that show me the same and will defend that which I love. I may not be the dog for everybody, but I will be the best darn dog for somebody. 6 years old-77lbs. My adoption fee is $140 and includes: neuter, microchip, 1 month pet health insurance, reduced-cost training class, free vet exam, leash/collar, toy & treat packet, food sample.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harley, a Portland Rhodesian Ridgeback/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Labrador Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rhodesian Ridgeback/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Rhodesian Ridgeback/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
