My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Lucy and I am 6 months old. Two months ago, I wandered into the street and was hit by a car. I laid there in agony, as I watched the car drive away. WAIT, DON’T LEAVE ME, PLEASE HELP ME I cried out as the car drove away. I couldn’t move my leg and I knew I couldn’t stay here much longer. I struggled to get up. After some time, I managed to get out of the street. I asked God to please help me. I told Him that I was sorry for being in the street; I didn’t know it was dangerous. As I lay there, sobbing wondering what to do, a car slowly pulled up near me. A man and a woman got out and came over to me and asked if I was okay. I was so relieved to see them, my tail started to wag uncontrollably. As I attempted to get up to move toward them, pain shot through me and I cried out. They carefully loaded me into their car. They told me they were going to get me help. Tears flowed down my face; I was so overcome with emotion. I silently thanked God over and over all the way to the vet’s office. Once we arrived at Bienville Animal Medical Center in Ocean Springs, MS, it was determined that my femur bone was severely fractured. I would need surgery to correct my leg. The nice couple did not have the means to pay for my surgery, nor could they keep me. After some discussion on what to do, a phone call was made and the rescue was able to take me in. A plea for donations toward my surgery and for a foster home came through! God answers prayers! It’s been two months since the surgery and I am doing great. Still in the recovery stages, Dr. Dill said it would be several months before my leg would be completely healed. In the meantime, I have been enjoying hanging out with my foster dad. I like to go for car rides, short walks and playing with my foster siblings. I like learning new commands and have been told that I am a fast learner. I am super affectionate and like meeting new people. Most importantly, I learned through the kindness that was shown to me; that there are a lot of good people out there. I would love to have a family of my own to grow up with.
