My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Experienced owner needed: Pixie is not the dog for a first time or novice dog owner.
A bit of a handful, this small, wiry-haired, long-legged, 4 year old Chihuahua mix weighing in at about 6 pounds but don’t let that fool you, she is bold beyond her size! True to the nature of her breed, Pixie is extremely protective of her owner and possessions and can be a bit nippy if challenged by people or other animals.
Pixie came to Rover after being found as a stray in Southern Indiana. Unknown as to just how long she was out on her own her survival instincts of being, quick witted and moving quickly appear to have been strengthen because of it. She is learning to play with toys but tends to destroy them by shaking them and pulling the stuffing out of them. After coming to Rover she was updated with all of the needed shots, heartworm tested and spayed. Being placed in a foster home took some getting used to as she was frightened, apprehensive and lacked trust. Once Pixie trusts you she will defend you to the end.
Pixie can be a sweet and loving girl who will give kisses, loves to be carried around on your shoulder and snuggles down under the covers with you at night but don’t let that fool you, she can stand her ground and hold her own. She is currently in a foster home with other dogs of all sizes some of which she tolerates well while others that clearly irritate her. Pixie does not like children and will react quickly and negatively to their fast movements and loud noises. Therefore for the sake of Pixie and any potential new owners, she will not be adopted out to families with children. She would do best as an only dog in an adult household. Her adoption fee is $100.00.
