Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET SKYLER -
Whether her name initially makes you think of an actor, singer or fictional character on TV, once you meet our little SKYLER, you'll start associating the name with sweetness, resilience and grace. Our beautiful, sweet SKYLER is a rare, Standard Dachshund (AKC - but no papers). She has also just been completely vetted, spayed and had dental work done so she will be looking her best when she meets her new forever family. SKYLER personifies resilience and grace. At 18 months, this little girl has been through a lot. She has already had two families. For the first half of her life, SKYLER lived with a loving elderly couple who eventually became unable to care for her. She was adopted by a younger couple, but due to a divorce, SKYLER, through no fault of her own, found herself all alone. Grateful for a warm blanket and treat in her crate, our gracious, sweet and resilient SKYLER is a completely housetrained, calm and very loving young doxie. Do you love Standard Dachshunds? Are you ready to give a lifetime of love to our little SKYLER in return for her love and affection? If so, perhaps you can be her FOREVER family.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give SKYLER a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
