Just look at this sweet boy! He is a young pup and he will be a nice medium sized when full grown. He is good with all. Barney is what we call a Velcro Dog. He loves to follow people around. He will rub against you to get a scratch on the head. He will be a good cuddler when he gets love in his new forever home. He likes squeaky toys. Barney will wag his tail so hard that his bum goes back & forth with it. He will give you puppy dog eyes to get your attention. He really wants human contact. He engages other dogs to play with him and he will roll around in the grass when he wants to relax. Barney is food motivated so training should be easier and teaching new tricks can be fun. He is sometimes shy but will warm up when you give him love. He will let you pull on his tail and ears freely. This makes him a great candidate for a family with kids. He would also make a senior adopter a good companion. He is a shelter favorite because he has a wonderful personality. Can you give Barney the love and forever home he deserves? Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
