Humbert's Story...
I need someone to help get me out of my funk…I guess I am a little bummed after being out on the streets and getting picked up by LA County. I mean, I am grateful my story didn't end there, but now I just want to get my life back on track. You know, settle down with a nice family, try to make something of myself. I don't want to be a Ho-Hum-bert anymore—I want to be an A-mazing-bert! I get along great with other dogs, and even cats! Respectful kiddos 6+ would help cheer me up. I would also really love to continue the crate training I have been practicing here at the shelter—it gives me a sense of accomplishment and pride to have my own little piece of the world to take care of. I am starting to feel better already just talking about it! What do you say? Can you help turn my dog frown upside down? 4 years old-78lbs. My adoption fee is $180 and includes: microchip, neuter, reduced-cost training class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Humbert, a Portland Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
