My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Razor is a very intelligent and sensitive dog that needs a home with people who will be patient and understanding, giving lots of positive reinforcement and allowing him lots of time for cuddling. He obviously hasn't had much in his short life but he is eager to please and food motivated making him easy to train. Razor is approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 25 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

I am not sure of Razor's breeding but he is a very handsome dog and receives lots of compliments from everyone we meet. He is a very sweet and affectionate dog who loves to go for walks, enjoys playing at the park and loves getting pets and attention from everyone. Razor has enjoyed playing with the kids at the park and is always up for making new doggie friends.

Razor is a fairly active dog who would make an excellent jogging partner. He also has a great nose and would probably make a good dog for scent or rescue work. He would be good with another playful dog in the home but would do fine on his own as long as he got the attention and exercise he needs. A home with a backyard to play in and play dates with other dogs would suit him fine. I haven't had him around cats but he doesn't appear to have a prey drive and with his laid back, respective personality he would probably be fine.

Although Razor is friendly with everyone, he is very loyal to his people and really needs to know someone before he will trust them completely. Like many small dogs he is intelligent and likes to get to know someone before he will really feel secure with them.

Razor is a young dog and although he knows his basic commands such as sit, down, come and shake a paw, he still needs some training. He is very intelligent however and is totally food motivated and eager to please which makes him easy to train. I am working on his leash respect - walking nicely without pulling, and currently am using a harness. He is completely house trained and is really good about letting you know when he needs to go out. He will however steal food that is left within reach and will get into the garbage if it is not put away. I believe that Razor is crate trained however I don't use a crate for him in the home but I do have an X-pen that he goes in as soon as he sees I am leaving the house. When Razor first came to me he was terrified in the car but since that time he has become very confident and will jump right in and settles really quickly.

Although he is a fairly active dog outside, in the home he settles easily and is a quiet, cuddly companion. I would hate to see him go to a home where he was not allowed on the furniture as he loves to get up and sit beside you and get in your lap for a cuddle. Overall he is a lovely companion. He enjoys affection, is clean and quiet in the home, he picks up on things quickly and is not overly demanding of your attention.

Razor is such a great little dog - so friendly and loving. He is very intelligent and learns very quickly. He is also very food motivated which will help in training. My hope is that he goes to people who have had dogs before and who are willing to give him time to get to know them fully and who will work with him using lots of praise and positive reinforcement. I think he would do best in an adult only home or a home with older children who could help in ensuring he gets exercised and lots of mental stimulation.

If you think Razor would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
