My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE CONTACT INFORMATION AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST. TAYLOR IS NOT WITH THIS RESCUE, THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING.

Taylor was a stray at Bastrop County Animal Shelter. She was on the euthanasia list because of her broken and misaligned jaw. We pulled her from the shelter and took her straight to our Vets office where a fragment of bone was extracted from her gums. Our Vet called in a referral to Texas A&M Animal Hospital so we could look into the problem.

The TA&M exam revealed that Taylor had an infected tooth that needed to come out ASAP. It was also decided, while she was under for the tooth extraction, to place an acrylic brace in her mouth to bring her jaw back into alignment over the next 6 weeks. We took her back to TXA&M after 6 weeks for a follow-up visit. This exam revealed an additional abscessed premolar that needed to be extracted. Also, her mouth could not close properly because of two small teeth in front and so they were extracted. Now Taylor’s mouth can function properly and no more follow-up visits are required.

Taylor is a very sweet girl who wants to be loved. She can’t get enough of us. Taylor is kennel trained, house broken, uses a doggie door and she knows sit, down, paw, high five, off and has good recall. Taylor is well socialized with both humans and other canines. She takes it upon herself to welcome all the dogs at the local bark park as they come in. She loves to howl whenever we play the harmonica and she does an adorable head tilt when she is curious. Taylor has a fantastic, loving personality and she is very eager to please and spend time with us. But she can also entertain herself well when we have something else to do. She has not been destructive and her toys are all still in tack. She is always a hit when we take her out in public. Taylor is a very special girl and she has also done very well with the kids at the Farmer’s Market.

Taylor is available for adoption for $200.00. A "Rehoming Application", "Home Visit" and stable fence in yard are required. If you would like to meet Taylor, contact us at LauraBurkley@austin.rr.com or 512-203-7559. Most Saturday’s, Taylor is at the Bastrop Farmer’s Market from 10-2 at 1302 Chestnut St. by the railroad tracks, in the Market Building at the back of the lot, next to the Convention Center & across from City Hall. If you are coming to see her, please contact us in advance to make sure we will be there that weekend.
