My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET OSCAR

Depending upon your generation, the name Oscar may bring up visions of a cranky green muppet in a trash can or Felix Unger's messy roommate from TV's 'The Odd Couple.' As you can see just from looking at him, our OSCAR is neither 'garbage can' grouchy or 'Felix qualified' untidy. No, our OSCAR is a tiny (9 lb), friendly, 22 month old dachshund AKC (no papers) who loves older children and other small dogs. OSCAR loves to play fetch until you can't throw the ball anymore; he never tires of it. He is a smart little doxie too. He knows commands such as sit, stay, etc. He loves to walk (even off leash) and he will not run away. He always comes back when you call him. Would you love to have a little pal to run around and play with? If so, maybe our little OSCAR is the best friend you've been looking for.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give OSCAR a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
