My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Let me introduce you to Jessie. She is about 6 months old. She is a Border Collie cross, which makes her a great dog for any living situation. She is not overly big, about 30lbs, but is big enough to handle anything you want to do with her. She is mostly black, with tan on the bottom of her legs and two cute white marks, one on her chest and on her bottom. We think she may have a touch of German Shepherd in her to attribute her colouring, but she is predominately Border Collie in every other way. She is a beautiful dog with the sweetest temperament and personality. We were so lucky to be given the opportunity to foster Jessie, as she is our second foster dog. She has made fostering easy!

Jessie was a stray at a rural animal control facility and was not claimed by her owner. She is a very sweet dog who has a lot of love to give. She came to us with a pellet gun wound on her leg making us wonder about her past living situation. Jessie is no worse for it though and has a joyful attitude that carries through everything she does. Jessie is happiest when she is by your side. She deserves a family who is as devoted to her as she will be to them. She needs to belong in a home where she will not be allowed to roam free and get lost, and where she can be confident she is in her forever home, not being lost or abandoned again.

Jessie would do well in a home where she will be given the opportunity of lots of exercise. She would do very well with another dog for a playmate or to be with someone who loves to exercise, taking her for plenty of walks or runs. Jessie enjoys all forms of exercise offered to her. A large yard for her to run in would be a great benefit! Despite her need to exercise, she is very calm and quiet indoors. She rarely barks in the house (she might if she sees another dog walking by). Jessie loves to be outside with us in the yard and is doing well on walks. She would like an active family that will include her in activities.

Jessie thinks she is a lap dog, despite her size! Jessie loves to be snuggled and pet. She is very happy when she is by your side, getting petted or when she's getting belly rubs. She can never get enough love and affection. She loves to be brushed and will lie still while you brush her for a long time. Jessie has been such a good girl during her stay with us and to top it off has been perfectly housetrained, not a single accident. She goes to the sliding door, and gives it a little tap with her paw when she needs to go out. She is also crate trained. She sleeps in her crate at night and stays in her crate when we are away from the house. She is still unsure about going into her crate but goes in with a small treat. Because she is still a puppy and can get into mischief if unattended we make sure she is crated whenever we leave the home and at night. She has been an easy dog to foster and an even easier dog to love.

Jessie is living in a full house! She is good with our dog and has settled in nicely with her foster dog sister. From the second she arrived, they were best buds, playing together often. She would do very well in a home with another friendly, well-behaved dog. Jessie also has 4 cats as her new friends. She is very good around the cats!

Jessie is being fostered in a home with three young children (8, 6, and 4 years old). The children adore her and she loves receiving affection from them. She would do very well in a home with children. Jessie is a sweet dog, with a gentle nature, and we believe that the more love she receives the better.

Jessie is being taught basic obedience in her foster home. She needs someone who will continue with her training. She is very motivated with treats. She knows "sit" and is being taught to sit upon greeting people. Jessie’s new family should commit to continuing her obedience training to bring out the best in this eager to please dog. You will have a fantastic family dog who has all the love in the world to give. Whomever her future owners may be are very lucky people. With continued training and socialization, Jessie is going to be one amazing dog. Jessie is young, active and full of life. She needs a family that will love her forever, exercise her well and play with her, and continue to train her well. Anyone interested in Jessie should be familiar with Border Collies and know what is required for exercise with this breed. Also, the Border Collie is an exceptionally smart breed of dog so she will do best with a family willing to work her through obedience training and even better, dog sports. She will be the best dog ever to the right family looking for a fun loving, affectionate next best friend.

All Pound Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested, de-wormed (if required), and microchipped prior to adoption.
