Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Upon first seeing Mark's photos, we were awed by his beautiful red tri-colored markings on his face. Mark still acts like at rambunctious puppy at 2 years of age. He is an Aussie or BC mix, however, we just can't seem to put our finger on what he is mixed with. Mark weighs about 60 lbs. and the best way to describe him is that he thinks he is a small dog, but he is trapped in a large dog’s body. Mark is one of the most lovable dogs you will ever meet.
Mark was advocated to by the Barstow Humane Society. This is a shelter where there is literally no foot traffic, so the adoption rate is very low. Mark was set to euthanized and shelter personnel took such a liking to him because of his sweet nature . Mark has a high energy level and would do best in a very active lifestyle home which thrives on activity so that he will not be destructive.
Mark needs immediate obedience training, as he is quite strong on the leash and pulls very hard. He will need a physically strong handler and one who will be consistent with his discipline, as he can be quite over powering due to his size. Underneath, he is very affectionate, and wants to please. Mark is well socialized with other dogs.
Due to Mark’s size, it is recommended that he be adopted into a home with children over the age of 12 years. If you are a dog savvy person who would like a bit of a challenge, then Mark is your dog. Mark will blossom out to be a great dog with the right person who can channel his energy with positive reinforcement.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please go on line and fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
