My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo (aka Leonardo/Leon) is a very handsome, loving and energetic 2 year-old tri-colored Beagle boy. He is a 15-inch guy, at a muscular 30 pounds and was tested heartworm negative.

Leo is a very affectionate young man who loves to be near you at all times- he loves to follow you and help with laundry, cleaning the kitchen and especially loves to sit and give you cuddles. It appears he may have been corrected harshly at his previous home, but has adjusted well, and has really come into his own. He is house-trained, though may have an episodic accident, which he always feels very bad about and gives you “sad eyes” when such an accident occurs. He LOVES walks, though like any young Beagle hound he tends to view each walk as an exciting hunt, and is learning his leash manners with some help from a harness. Being such a natural-born hunter, a home with cats or other very small dogs may not be the ideal place for him, and it would be wise to be cautious with exiting doors as Leo is always very eager to go on antoher "hunt." A home with older children may also benefit this little guy. He is crated during the day while his foster mom is at work, but voices his concern when you leave (as he would really prefer to join you) but quiets down shortly after, especially if he has his Kong toy with a special treat inside.

Leo would really love to be the center of attention of a loving and patient household. Leo does love his foster brother (though can be nervous about meeting other dogs for the first time), but does get possessive of his food and toys. He would do best with a fellow pup that wouldn’t mind Leo being “top dog.” Leo just loves his toys and proudly parades around the home with them, making his foster mom laugh and smile unabashedly. He is very interested in the prospect of making playthings of shoes, but is quickly corrected with a little vocal notification. With love and patience (and some treats) Leo’s training and manners will continue to improve.

Leo is such a sweet and funny boy that will bring great joy, happiness, love and laughter to a loving family!
