My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVAILABLE 02-11-14 A good samaritan found this little Beagle shivering in the snow, so he took him in until the weather cleared. He knew he couldn't keep a dog, so he had an Animal Control Officer pick him up and take him to the Animal Shelter where he would be safe and warm. At the Shelter he was named Ray Vaughan, tested for heart worms, given preventative along with his vaccinations. Being a Beagle Ray Vaughan likes to keep his nose to the ground on his leash walks, but he walks at a pretty easy pace. He keeps his crate clean so Ray might be crate/house trained. He seems to be a 15 inch Beagle and has the cutest face. Ray Vaughan's hold time is up now and no one has called or come looking for him, so he is now available for adoption. He would make a great canine family member, so come to the Shelter in Elizabeth City and meet Ray Vaughan.
UPDATE 05-29-14 On 02-22-14 Ray Vaughan was adopted by a loving family; unfortunately, when they took him to the Vet for a check up, he tested positive for heart worms. On his arrival at the Shelter his heart worm test was negative; it usually takes 6 months from the time it is bitten by a mosquito carrying the heart worm for a dog to test positive; which must have been the case for Ray. The disease is quite treatable, but the family felt they could not invest the time nor money so returned Ray to the Shelter. Having loved and cared for him for three months, they were able to tell us that Ray is housetrained, he enjoys car rides, leash walks, toys and quiet time. Please consider making Ray part of your family, there is some financial help available for his treatment. Beagles are the Best.
