My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blue is a very good dog that we regrettably have to give up because of job loss and career changes. Unfortunately, we don't have the finances and time to exercise and care for him. This has been a difficult decision since he has been in our family for the last five years. Blue is a 7-year-old, 75 lb. neutered and housebroken Catahoula Hound/Australian Shepherd mix who is high energy and loves to run, as well as play fetch with a Frisbee or ball. Chasing squirrels and rabbits are favorite activities, as well as just lounging in the yard. He loves to explore his surroundings and scope out new scents in the yard. He walks very well on the leash, but should not get free rein since he can easily get distracted. Blue loves to be petted, enjoys chewing tough Nylabones, and playing with squeaky toys. He takes treats gently out of hands and is not possessive around food or toys. He is full of personality and loves attention. He is great with people, kids, and non-dominant dogs. Whoever his owners are need to be careful how they introduce him to new dogs.

Blue is very intelligent and alert to his surroundings. He is a great watchdog and barks when people come to the door. He knows commands, such as ‘come,’ ‘sit,’ ‘stay,’ ‘heel,’ and ‘down,’ and he is eager to please his owners. He even knows how to play dead and humorously howls at sirens. Blue easily handles extreme weather changes because of his double coat, but is fearful of thunderstorms and fireworks. Due to some separation anxiety, he needs to be crated when left alone and will likely bark for a little a while. He can be anxious during car rides, but can settle down for a good nap in the back seat. Blue enjoys a good bath and having his coat brushed. Blue can easily adapt and will fit in well with most families. He can be a good companion to another dog or will love the sole attention. He is micro-chipped and is up to date with his vaccinations and his rabies shot is good through 2016. Blue is in need of a good loving forever home.

We can give more information and answer all your questions. Please call 224-535-6223 or email us at picch@wowway.com. His adoption fee is $50. He comes with a leash, collar, and toys. Crate and grooming supplies are negotiable.
