My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Henry was an owner surrender to the rescue because they could not give him the time and attention he needed. We are not sure what he is mixed with, he is taller than a standard Jack Russell and his hair is much softer, he is not wire haired.

Henry has been adopted out to a couple families but unfortunately has been returned for different reasons. Since he has been back with the rescue owner, he is living with 7 other dogs of various sizes and 2 cats. He does play aggressively and tries to dominate the dogs if allowed but responds very well with correction from the dog or owner. We initially strayed away from having him around cats but so far, he has done well and learned quickly, they are not to mess with.

Henry needs a strong leader. Someone that will remain dominant over him. He can become protective of his people over time but needs an owner that will reassure him he does not have to be. On walks he has been known to bark "aggressively" at people or dogs passing by, so that is correction the rescue owner will be working on as well. He is an absolute love but without the right match can be handful. We have been really surprised at how well he has done so far with so many dogs and cats because of the complaints we have had from adopters, we were expecting a monster. But it's really supervision, dominance, training and consistency and he is doing remarkably well!

Henry is great with kids - in fact loves them because they give him all the attention he wants! He is jumpy which can be a bit much for kids, we are working on addressing that as well. He is housetrained and crate trained. Henry really just wants to be held or tucked into the covers, he really loves his humans.

He is such a smart boy and eager to learn. Check out one of his tricks: http://youtu.be/tKe0M-u1ePw
