Zeus's Story...
Zeus is a handsome black dane with natural ears. He's a playful, energetic 2 1/2 year old who very much wants to please his people. He is sometimes a little timid when meeting new people, but once he knows you, he's very friendly and affectionate. He is very good with kids, although when he gets excited he doesn't always pay attention to his own body parts, so smaller children would need to be dane-savvy. He is also very good with other dogs. He has lived with a Italian greyhound and a Portuguese water dog, and was playful without being too rough. He is housebroken and crate-trained, and he's quickly learning basic obedience. Zeus is looking for an active home with a fenced yard where he can get a lot of play time. He would do well in a home with a canine companion to play with.

Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League can only adopt within its incorporated area (eastern NY, eastern PA, NJ, DE, WV, MD, and VA). For more information on our adoption policies please visit our website: To adopt a Great Dane under 2 you must have traditional fencing (no electronic fences permitted). For Danes over 2, please see our website for fencing policies.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zeus, a Martinsburg Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in Martinsburg, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in Martinsburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Martinsburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Martinsburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Martinsburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
