My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING—“Sparky” is not in foster care with BAPBR and we make no guarantees about his/her health or temperament. We are providing a service to his foster mom to help with adoption. Please contact his foster mom directly if you are interested in meeting or adopting him.

Hi, I'm Sparky! I am a 6 year old, 6.5 pound Chihuahua seeking my forever home! I am very friendly, affectionate, and devoted with unconditional love for my people. I have been accustomed to lots of face time with my humans so will prefer a home where I can spend most of my time with them. I travel well, as long as I am accompanied by my loving people. I am a bit unsure about children, and may find young ones a bit scary. A calm, quiet home without young children would make me happy. I have lived with other dogs, and prefer quiet, respectful canine companions. I have a heart murmur (graded 5 out of 6) that may require care in the future. However, you will find that my heart is so big...it is full of loving devotion to my humans. I hope to find a family who will love me as I am and reward my sweet devotion in kind.

Sparky came into my care after a homeless woman could not take care of him anymore. I have taken Sparky on the bus in his sling multiple times and he has been fine, even fallen asleep! He has gone through periods of transition, during which he has felt more anxious. After 3 days with me, he became comfortable enough to start playing and "zooming" around. His former mom said he does have a history of seizures; about 2 per year and only when it's very hot. From what I heard from the former owner, I feel these may have occurred due to extreme heat to which any body would react in some way. Sparky would love a calm, quiet home and human parents who are home most of the time and willing to take care of minor medical issues that may come up later in his life.
