My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This lovely girl is a one year old, 56 lb. pit bull terrier rescued from some mean streets. The Oakland shelter was so impressed with Mia's temperament they went ahead and had her spayed, vaccinated and chipped, all ready to go into Dusty Paws foster care.

Mia is doing well in her foster home. At first she didn’t know how to get in and out of a car or go up and down stairs (had to be carried). But she is a quick learner and after only a day was managing the stairs comfortably.

As you can see from her photos, Mia is a very happy girl. She is almost always wagging her tail. Her foster dad agrees that she has a great temperament. She is a very sweet dog who loves to be around people. The moment Mia sees you her little tail starts whipping around. At home, off leash, she follows foster dad around while he works in the backyard.

In the shelter, Mia did well in doggie play groups. In her foster home she is warming up nicely to Cole, the foster dad's own dog, and has already joined them on a walk in Tilden Park. Mia is well-behaved on leash. She is not high energy, but loves to run around and play in the yard. She seems very quiet, not barky or whiney. Mia is already house-trained.
