Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Wilma’s adoption fee is $350. Willie/Willy (nee Wilma) is a female Shih Tzu (approximately age 8), and she weighs about 20 pounds. Willie is an absolute delight! She's quiet and calm, very low maintenance. In fact she needs someone, or a family, who will encourage her to come out of her little shell. The past neglect she has suffered in all but the most basic areas has caused her to prefer to be off by herself. She now joins our family as we watch tv, but it is with reluctance that she'll even come up the few stairs to the main level or the bedroom. For a long time she would only come to eat and then retreat to an open storage room, to be out of the way, it seemed.
You can see, however, the happy dog she will become whenever she is let out of the back door. She runs to the gate and waits for me to join her with the leash before we leave for the park. She often enjoys just exploring the back yard, sometimes digging into the dirt. It is a delight to see how happy she is. Wilma’s ideal home should have a back yard for her to explore and spend time in.
Although she's not a fan of sitting on laps, she does love to be brushed and rubbed vigorously. She really does thrive on attention. She's come a long way in the time that she’s been with us and she now trusts us and has become a devoted companion. She now even feels like protecting her home with a few barks when strangers come to the door. Certain visitors will even get a welcome tail wag and greeting at the door.
Wilma will blossom in a home with a family that will provide her with lots of loving attention, and that will allow her the time and space to learn to trust. In return they will be rewarded with this dog’s happy devotion for the rest of her life.
