My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET RUSTY:

Our newest friend, RUSTY, a 9 year old, 18 lb senior red, smooth haired dachshund, sadly finds himself in need of a new forever home. As you can imagine, he's a little nervous. Let's greet him with a poem to show him he's welcome, shall we?

R - is for Radiant, you bring the sunshine to those around you
U - is for Unique, there is no one just like you buddy.
S - is for Silly, you're a dachshund after all and we know you love to play fetch.
T - is for Top of Class, take you anywhere...even for rides in the car.
Y - Yummy, You're so cute, people just want to hold you and 'eat you up.' Good thing you like sitting in people laps.

NOTE FROM ODR, INC. RUSTY is new to us so we'll be evaluating his behavior as we get to know him, but so far so good. Let us know if you're looking for a senior doxie to love and read poetry (or just play) with.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $295, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give RUSTY a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
