Abe's Story...
Abe is a senior lab retriever who was rescued when his owner did not show up to pick him up at the shelter. He is very healthy and had an annual exam that included his bloodwork; xrays; etc and the vets said except for a little arthritus in his hips (normal for seniors) that is very strong and healthy.

Abe is very gentle; and very respectful of everyone. He loves his walks and walks proudly; so glad to be our of the shelter environment. We are looking for a great home where he can give lots of love to someone that is lonely and needs a very gentle companion.

The vets recommend arthritus support vitamins and as his rescuers; that will be provided to his adopters. Please call 916-879-0706 or email

Great pictures coming!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Abe, a Sacramento Flat-Coated Retriever/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever/Labrador Retriever for sale in Sacramento, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Sacramento.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sacramento already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sacramento breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sacramento paves the way for another one to be saved.
