My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Landi is purebred, great family line, South African Boerboel Mastiff. She is totally a family dog. She is very good natured and loves people. She actually smiles as she comes to you. She loves to pass through your legs as a gesture of friendship and happiness. She walks with a dignity that must be seen. Almost a gait. She adores having her heard caressed and her skin is almost velvet like. She doesn't drool like some big dogs do. She is attentive and wants to be around people. Landi is 2.5 years old and currently weighs 125 lbs.

Landi is extremely healthy looking, her colour is fabulous. Her fat to muscle ratio is almost perfect. She loves going for walks, and is alert and active. At the same time she loves to just relax. Overall her energy level would be considered moderate. Landi is sociable with everyone however she does need to be the dominant dog. She is currently living in a home with two smaller dogs and once dominance was established, she was fine with them. On walks she is friendly, however I have seen her go on guard with the approach of a dog that seemed to want to be dominant. She has no patience for the dominance of another dog and will challenge when challenged.

Landi is well behaved in the home. She has no fear of anything such as loud noises and is a very confident dog. She is fed twice a day. Her favourite things to do are going for walks, playing with a toy she has adopted, and chasing squirrels if the come into the yard. She is generally a very quiet dog but will bark at other dogs barking in the distance or if she hears a strange noise in the home.

Landi knows all of her basic commands however she will respond quicker if a treat is involved. She is fully house trained and knows to signal you to be let out. She likes to sleep on one couch in particular. She doesn't chew and will communicate by a little cry when she has go outside for her business. She was used to being in her crate for the first year but no longer needs to be crated. She isn’t bad on a leash if you have a training (choke chain) collar but will pull on a flat collar. I walk her with a extendable leash which I bring her in close when meeting people or other dogs. This lets her roam just a bit in a controlled way and she walks at heal when I pull her in. She does get excited when she knows it is time to go for a walk. She is excellent in the car and you wouldn't even know she is in the car.

Landi is a 125 pound dog that is a gentle giant. If you like big dogs you will loves Landi. Landi would be best in a home with an owner who has experience with large dogs. She needs a good sized yard for her to play in when outside which must be fenced, as she might run after a rabbit etc. She should be with people who want to love on her, as she is very affectionate with her people and loves attention and pets. She really enjoys being around and part of her family.

If you think Landi would be a good choice for your family and situation, please submit an application for consideration.
