Monte's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, and up to date with shots.

Monte's Story...
Monte is a 10 year old neutered male Papillon mix dog. We are not sure how he is with other dogs or cats as he was not around any in his previous home. He loves people and is a very sweet boy, though a little shy when he first meets you. He is a special needs boy as he has a thyroid condition and is on medication for it. He would be great for a quieter home with someone who wants a relaxed companion to be their best friend. He is a great little guy and would love to find a new forever home!

$150 Adoption Fee for all Dogs and Puppies. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, a heartworm/lymes test (for adults), microchip, and all age appropriate vaccinations. (Puppies are too young for the test but will be started on preventative.)

SHELTER HOURS: 1:00pm – 6:00pm Tuesday - Thursday; 12:00pm – 4:00pm Friday and Saturday; 1pm-4pm Sunday; Closed Monday. We welcome adoptions from people living out of the area or outside the state of Virginia. The application process is completed in person at the shelter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Monte, a Staunton Papillon dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Papillon for sale in Staunton, or seeking a Papillon dog from a breeder in Staunton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Staunton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Staunton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Papillon breeders who help with Papillon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Staunton paves the way for another one to be saved.
