Velvet's Story...
Velvet has a unique rescue story. She was found in a ditch in full sun with two of her litter mates when she was three days old. So tiny - the kittens were limp and beyond hungry. We don't know what happened to their mom but she must have been in the process of moving them to safety when she was interrupted. The kittens were brought to a FOR hand feeder and bottle fed every 2 hours, around the clock. They grew strong, eventually weaned, and found homes. It was a small miracle and now, they need another one. Velvet and her sister, Whoopsy Daisy, now find themselves homeless again (through no fault of their own). Velvet is great with other cats, 100% litter pan trained, and is learning that dogs can be okay! She's fostered in Huntsville, AL and we'd love to introduce you. Please email info@FORrescue.net and/or complete an application at http://forrescue.net/cat-application/. We look forward to talking with you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Velvet, a Homewood Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Homewood, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Homewood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Homewood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Homewood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Homewood paves the way for another one to be saved.
