Here's what the humans have to say about me:
JASPER is a 6 year old yellow neutered male who weighs 83 pounds (ideal is 73 lbs ~ needs to lose a few ~ on green bean and exercise diet). He's very friendly and loves to be petted. If you're on the ground he will come sit on your lap to be petted. Loves to retrieve. Likes swimming in the ocean. He deserves a good home with a family that will give him exercise. He is good with other dogs, owners mother had a tea cup Yorkie and he would play with it. Knows basic commands sit, down, come, stay (sometimes). Gives High five with both paws for treats.. Pull some on lead, okay with Easy Walk Harness. House trained was crate trained a puppy but doesn't need it now.
Jasper comes from the country and may not do well in a city an apartment/condo environment. Would do best with a family that is looking for a active, energetic loving Lab who loves to play. He's approved for kids aged 4+.
Update (8/03): Jasper's personality totally blossomed yesterday when he got to go to a pool party! He loves to swim, LOVES it. He got into someone's bag, got a toy and didn't want to let it go. He was on the move the entire time he was there. He really loved being able to run in the fenced-in play space. When his fosters were ready to leave, he calmed quickly and jumped in the car and was ready for a nap. He is a great dog and was a big hit at the party. He played well with the dogs, he just wouldn't share that green toy! He is a great dog!
Update (7/28): Jasper is just about the calmest, most handsome lab his foster has ever known. He is house and crate trained, knows most commands and just wants to be near you. He takes treats gently, does not beg from the table and does not counter-surf. He walks well on a leash and is an all around great dog. Plus, he is approved for kids 4 and up! Jasper loves the nylabones and Kongs. He is 6 years old but you wouldn't know it; he is just a big, sweet, calm puppy!
Update (7/24): Jasper is a well-behaved pup who gets along great with his canine sisters. He walks well on the leash and doesn't pull too much. During the day he has free reign of the house and doesn't get into stuff. He's great with the child at home. Jasper is a sweet dog.
Update (6/24): Jasper has acclimated nicely. He hangs out with me during the day. Jasper seems perfectly content staying downstairs at night. Yesterday he played hide and seek with my son for about 10 min. It was super cute watching them take turns hiding and finding.
Update (6/23): Jasper has had some training, he knows sit, down, up, stay, even heel! He is quickly figuring out what the other commands mean (gentle, wait, and 'go-on' --aka release-- etc). He likely knew these before but had a different vocabulary in the past, but he definitely knows the concepts. He is walking well with a martingale and leash. He is good with the resident small dog and she likes him, too. He likes to hang out with people, but had no problems with him being on his own overnight.
This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. The rescue has around 50 dogs available for adoption.
