My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is MAX!

Max, aka “A big teddy bear,” loves being petted. In foster care, he enjoys running around and playing with the other dogs, but might do best in a 1-dog home (or with one female dog). Max has never been trained around cats & tends to chase them. However, he has responded well to the small amount of training he has had so far! Max is about 2.5 years old.

Max is very happy and friendly. He is a big bundle of joy & likes to cuddle! He LOVES to play ball with his teenage foster care helpers. Max was rescued from a SC owner that was going to shoot him (because he didn’t want dogs anymore).

This gentle boy is looking for a wonderful family to love him! When left unattended for long periods, he has been known to climb fences. He will need some training.

PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption, this will save you time at the event. If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link below and we will review your information, call your personal as well as vet references. We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household.

APPLICATION FORM: https://redletterbusiness.wufoo.com/forms/find-my-new-best-friend-the-red-dog-project/ (Copy and paste to browser.)

• A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference.

• If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property.

• Volunteers will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters either on the phone or at the weekend event. As a policy, dogs are adopted to the best home, not the first application.

• If you have never owned a dog and therefore do not have a vet reference let us know right away and we'll try to do a home visit before the adoption. First time adopters need a quick home visit to make sure they are ready to take a dog home for the first time.

Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero.
