My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JAKE #3 is a handsome 4 year old yellow neutered male who weighs 80 pounds. He loves attention and petting and belly rubs, and he’s great in the car! He has lots of energy. Any shyness he displayed at the shelter has been forgotten! He rushed right over to me and gave kisses and let me put his collar on without a peep. He jumped right into the car and settled himself, curled up next to my Dad. He jumped to the way back a few times and looked out, as if that is where he is used to riding. He would flip my Dad's hand onto his head to ask for a head pet. He lets you touch him all over and likes the attention. He is VERY strong and pulls on the leash. An Easywalk harness will help. Great disposition and is just a happy boy. And he takes treats like a gentleman! He is good with other dogs ~ MUST go to a home with another dog. He's approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (8/03): Handsome Jake gets compliments daily on just how gorgeous he is! He loves his walks on the local trails and in communities and has a great time visiting the dog park. He is super friendly with people and plays well with dogs of all sizes. He would love to find his forever home. He is smart and wants to please. He knows sit and stay but needs to learn some leash manners (an easy walk harness helps!). He weighs 75 pounds. A home with another dog to play with and a fenced in yard would be the perfect match for him.

Update (7/25): Jake's doing well. He's happy and has a new best friend at the dog park. He likes to play but isn't a fan of really rambunctious dogs or puppies. He loves people and would be a lap dog if you'll let him. Loud noises scare him so he would do best in a quiet neighborhood. He enjoys the company of the resident dogs in their crates right next to him, so a canine companion is definitely a must. He's a really nice boy.

Update (7/19): Jake is all sweetheart. He's very submissive to other dogs and just the right amount of bossy with people. He likes to chew and picks appropriate items 90% of the time. He rarely barks. He would probably be okay with a dog savvy cat - the ones at petco all hissed and swatted at him and he ran away. He is an exuberant greeter, especially when meeting new men. He has a soft mouth and is eager to learn. Jake loves to sniff and is food motivated so would probably do very well at nose-work. We are working on improving his leash walking. He's a great dog!

Update (7/05): Jake is doing great! He loves affection and sleeps right by the side of his foster's bed. He gets along great with other dogs and is a very sweet fellow. Jake needs regular long walks. He is smart and wants to please. He is calm and easy in the house when His foster home. He does well with another dog when his human leaves so he must have a dog companion.

Update (7/10): Jake is a sweet fellow and he does well when left with my dog for 4 hours a day. He is a smart dog and he knows basic commands. He goes for a 3 mile hike in the woods about every other day, and daily walks and loves it. Jake is fabulous with other dogs and gets anxious when left without a dog companion. He should be adopted to a family with another dog.

Update (6/20): Jake is very handsome ~ he's smart, very affectionate and wants to please. He knows basic commands and is very friendly with other dogs. He is very quiet. He has a light happy spirit!

Update (6/29): Jake is a sweet and smart dog who knows basic commands. He is very good with other dogs. He enjoys playing and a fenced yard would be ideal

Update (6/25): Jake is doing very well and is a sweet guy. He got along great with the resident dog. He loved going for a walk and he knows sit. He is really smart, affectionate and wants to please. He is getting tons of petting from me and is loving it!
